I saw this event taking place and one of the remarkable things was that it wasnt just one 'lucky' throw that won the gold medal, virtually all of Ostapchuk's puts were far in excess of anybody else, she probably had the 5 furthest puts of the day.

Look at the list of people who served doping bans for non-positives (police investigations, admissions of guilt etc) and you will quickly realise that testing is only one aspct of fighting drugs cheats.

"She was not even in starting line-up before the games, because she had a positive drug test in 2005," Ostapchuk said.

"I'm being covered in dirt, but someone else comes out all clean."

Drug Free Sport New Zealand chief executive Graeme Steel vehemently dismissed the accusations.

“Val has never failed any of our drug tests and the International Association of Athletic Federations are required to provide any tests of theirs that she fails. They have never done that,” he said in staunch defence of Adams.

Anyway the Eastern Europeans seem to be shocking losers, first it was the Russians saying it was all a big political conspiracy that GB & NI finished above them in the medal table and now we have this crap from the Belarusian. Adams should sue her, she could probably do it in Britain as well thanks to our weird and wacky libel laws.

Indeed, metenolone is apparently a "long acting" anabolic steroid, it seems therefore more possible for her to be caught after using it. I bet there were drug cheats at this olympics but perhaps her advisers chose their drug badly. HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is only detectable up to two or three weeks after use, she could have used that in the build up to the games and gotten away with it.
