Opinion: A single photo can change the world. I know, because I took one that did.

Napalm girl was a powerful photo and its wide publication in the USA may have tipped the balance towards ending the war in Vietnam. Certainly it had an effect. I particularly like that the photographer Nick Ut didn't just take the photo and run but instead drove Kim Phuc to hospital and then stayed in close contact with her and her family.
 
I am wondering about other high impact photos, or just photos that became very well known.

I suppose earthrise taken from the surface of the moon would have to count. Also perhaps slightly more frivolous Tennis Girl :) :(

As one of the comments says: "Anyone who's seen this photo can only feel compassion for this woman. That she's dedicated her life to helping the suffering of children worldwide, is nothing short of miraculous and heroic. "
