Old Skool Trade Union Brass Band

Okay, I'm looking to get in touch with one of those old skool trade union miners style marching brass bands for a little something . . .

anybody on here know of any still floating around S.Wales?!?!

Of these, Cwmaman looks a good bet:

The Cwmaman Silver band was founded in 1876 and became part of the Institute in 1904; it is this partnership with the Institute that has bred great success during recent years.

The band has close links with Tower Colliery and led the historic march to the Colliery on their successful re-opening on 2nd January 1995, and also had the privilege of leading the procession through the City of Cardiff to the City Hall when the South Wales Miners Union received the Freedom of the City on 1st April 1995.

A little bit closer to home, and not a working men's one, you've got the Tongwynlais Temperence Silver Band.
They're really pretty good (I've got an album!).
And don't let the name fool you - the temperence thing isn't such a priority any more. :D
They're on facebook, I think.

Gwaun Cae Gurwen Band (formed 1891) - dont get much better than that !

(Bandleader used to be on Ivor "Trumpet" Davies no less ...
