great party. we got there pretty early before the real madness started, but i got quite swept away in Thora's apocalyptic vision "we're going to be trapped in a burning building or drown in the piss of a million reeking Europunks".

saw lots of old mates i hadn't seen for ages, and lots of the Unsound beach crew to boot. all understandably a bit shambolic, and i don't think Fil got to play, or Ruby for that matter :(

but still a fantastic night of muntedness, although two days running of going to bed mid-morning have taken their toll on my ageing bones

People (;) ) were calling out to Fil to do an impromptu set in the top room! :D
Unsurprisingly she didn't ...

Ruby definitely didn't get inside, Serifrat tried to help her in as well as us ( ) but she couldnt face it -- understandably, as at that point the crowds were at their most chaotic.

Does anyone know what time the Inner Terrestrials came on, and were they as good as they usually are??

Stig bumped into quite a few of her old friends from the 'scene' ;) :)

Im sooooo fuckin glad everyone had a good time . when we still didnt have a building at 1 o clock on saturday  people were starting to get extremely nervous , that building was our LAST chance salloon hence the size , lack of loos , etc etc .
Yes people did have to que for an hour or two simply because the building/stairs were getting dangerously overcrowded. anyone who was their will agree that letting an extra 200 folk just wander in would not have been to sensible.
You wouldnt beleve how much time , effort , money ,went into putting this party on , i know it didnt seem like it at 3am when you were up to your eyeballs in piss and punks but it was either that or cancel the gig altogether.
so anyway thanks for coming , next year we are gonna do it on a warm summer evening in a field somewhere, promise.

Uber thanks to all crews, systems, squaters, performers, and of course you lot. see ya next year. ws :D

i think Fil was always due to play the top room, but it just got too hectic.

Ruby was inside - for ages - but left and then couldn't get back in,

it was fantastic, and thanks for all the effort. for something done at the last minute, it was still brilliant despite the unavoidable problems :)

having H*z*l on the door could calm any crowd :D

The people on the door were superhuman. Ive seen whole battalions of armed riot police run away from less

i knew H***l and S***e - who was the really tall, shaved head bloke (a St Agnes resident i think), he had a really good way about him - got stuff sorted but in a calm and friendly manner. top doormanship :)

Must have been about 5, didn't watch them as was flagging a bit at the time and was ligging in the band room, sounded o.k. though. Great party, shame I missed Dread Messiah due to the hassles getting in, glad I wasn't doing the door tho'.

Yes, big thanks to all orgs and people involved - you guys did a great job keeping the show running against the odds. Door crew do deserve a big mention for managing to keep the crowds under control and stay civil all night long.

Warm? Summer? Field? Yes please :)

Zora and I had a great night; really lovely party if unbelievably packed. Sorry to the people we left without saying bye to, it was just a bit difficult moving around and we had to cut out early because we wanted a night off what with Synthetic Circus next weekend and Tribe of Munt the weekend after that so at 4 we called it a night and hopped on a bus home.

Great to see so many people out from Italy, particularly loved Double O's set, the people who I don't see out anywhere near so much as was once the case and not forgetting to mention all of you who I see every weekend ;)

Oh, OK -- we met her outside, just as we were approaching the party, but I hadn't really picked up on her already having been inside.

Maximum respect and so on ... sorry if my first post after the party looked a bit critical .... I did have a pretty good time :) despite missing the acts i really wanted to catch ... :(
A field version sounds like the way forward for 2006!!!

I tottally agree! they must have had a hard job on that door! once again Thank you!!! had the best time ever and met loads of really friendly peeps

it took as a long time to get there and fair while to get in.. though i'm not complaining about that thought the doormen did an excellent job and it was scarily busy on that stairwell..

but getting there late and at the end what was essentially a 36 hour drinking binge i didn't feel much like trying to catch up on other substances.. stayed for three hours gradually falling asleep and getting a bit tetchy.. but glad i went all the same.

The first three hours were fucking mental - I was still a bit jumpy from the crap with the police at the bookfair, and was seriously convinced we might all die. All the people who brought small children to a FUCKING SQUAT PARTY were really pissing me off too. So tempted to call social services...

Still by about 5am and drugged up to the eyeballs I started to really enjoy myself. Speed and White Lightening are an excellent combination.

i think that's a bit harsh - the festie was more of a celebration of ASS etc, and not just a regular squat party. hence i think people felt more comfortable bringing kids even - ultimately, given the crush - it may not have proved a good idea.

Oop - I wasn't taking you at all seriously. I think I was just laughing, going "yes, yes - we may die in here because we can't get out. Ahhhaaahahahaaaa....."

Good idea you and Dub had with the dreads though - fuck bedsheets ;)

I went to that art place where Brixton Cycles used to be on saturday afternoon, and they were giving out flyers and talking about the OH festies there. If I didn't know, I wouldn't have called it a squat party at all, by the way they were talking about it.

exactly. only one rig / floor was dj-led, it was much more an old school indoor festie / punk event than a regular squat party. which was cool

Why the fuck shouldn't people take their kids to squat parties as long as they're not neglected. I doubt any parents expected it to be that crowded and knew the organisers would be child-friendly. There were still places on the ground and top floors with a bit of space. Depends how responsible the parents were. Loads of kids enjoy squat parties and might be squatters themselves. They're one of the few places parents socialising can take kids on a night out in this country. The people with kids were the only ones getting in when the door was not letting anyone in.

hate to open this old can of worms, but agree with thora, makes me really uncomfortable seeing kids at squat parties..

but that's the point - as numerous people have said, it wasn't a regular squat party.

(bangs head on Filter)

lol, I don't think that Thora is referring to teenagers. When I read that I assumed that she was referring to the three toddlers and two not walking that I saw and to be honest I was a bit shocked to see them there.

I agree with Thora too. There was one on the top floor without shoes which is pretty dangerous IMO.
