The Finance Ministry's accountant general, Yaron Zelekha, said on Monday that Israel is the most corrupt country in the West, but that most of its civil service is honest and of high quality.

Zelekha spent Monday with a security guard at his side- a result of the threats issued against him due to his fight against government corruption.

It will be interesting to see how the Hasbara bots deal with this one.

Maybe they'll just suck up and be proud of it.

probably pround of the fact that they squeeze into the west
can't imagine restof the middle east is any great shakes

First off, Israel is not a Western nation so comparing it to such is a big gaffe. Israel is like any other Mid-Eastern nation in that Baksheesh goes a long way, but that is how life is handeled here. To compare it to Peoria is ahuge mistake of surreal poportions.

Answer the questions:

Provide me with proof that the ISM leadership admitted to doctoring photos of rachel corrie.

Evidence please that Captain "R" sucessfully sued Uvda-and the trial is over.

The producers of Uvda in that same court case admitted their show on Captain "R" was 'pure fantasy'

Projecting again?

I'm just wondering if you'll manage to coax Moono out of the ghetto into something like suburban or even just UK politics. He seems completely obsessed as the unofficial PR for Hamas.

Perhaps some might think it more sad to care whether moono posts in Suburban or not.

Why aren't you in there hassling the people who ask for nut roast recipes to come and defend their views on the Palestine/Israel conflict? You aim for the man on every thread Pete. Do you not have any thing to say on the topic?

Thought not.

Your post says:
"I can't counter your argument, so I'll abuse you."

Is that what you meant it to say?

I care about Moono. Deeply. I don't mind being thought sad for caring. He's a puir wee sowel who seems to be stuck in a rut and he needs taking out of hissel. At least Pete the Greek and Violent Panda abuse each other, and many others, over all kinds of subjects.

Hey, the Zionist regime is rotten. Just from this aspect, the relatively benign report that it's 'the MOST CORRUPT REGIME IN THE WEST' you can see that it has all the charm of Pete the Greek's table manners.

Zionist arse-kissers beware. Corruption is a charge in addition to ethnic cleansing, apartheid, extra-judicial execution, land theft, imprisonment without trial and murder, not a replacement.

Check his posting history.

It appears to be pretty much all he is capable of saying. :(

Bollocks it isn't. Israel is a very western country and many of its inhabitants come from the west. It is overly influenced by the west and has adopted almost every aspect of western capitalism.

Anything other than ad hominem attacks to contribute Pete? Nope? Thought not...

If Romania and Bulgaria count as Western countries then I'd say they were far more corrupt, even Turkey could be a contender.

Israel is fucked up but the nationalism over there means the corruption is less self-serving and more land-grabbing.

I'm just illustrating another hurdle for the Palestinians- a rotten and corrupt regime as a 'peace partner'. Coupled with a Quartet of rotten and corrupt regimes making the rules I'd say that there's about as much chance of peace by 'negotiation' as there is by Messianic intervention.

Or Pete the Greek getting a hard-on without his mum's permission.

Israel is in the Middle East according to Arab & Israeli, Asia according to the Internet, Europe according to the Eurovisual tv network.

In comparison to 'Western countries, it might well be the most corrupt, but baksheesh is hardly a method limited to Middle Eastern countries, as the recent cash for honours scandal in UK attests to, and in Russia, oligarchs use this method to bribe officials and get things done, and there is no doubt that this goes on in America too.

BTW, according to mainly American-held data input forms on the internet, Palestine still doesn't exist in that there is no country choice for Palestine, although it's domain name is now freed after years of campaigning. This 'mistake' needs to be remedied.

It's a Levantine nation.

"Levantine" - a word that is worth resurrecting.
By the 1900s Levantine had acquired a negative moral coloration. Sir Evelyn Baring, British agent and consul-general in Egypt from 1883 to 1907, adhered to the traditional definition, but emphasized the southern European origin of those to whom the term applied. He further included a pejorative nuance that had recently been attached to the term: "Levantines . . . suffer in reputation by reason of qualities which are displayed by only a small minority of their class . . . among this minority are to be found individuals who are tainted with a remarkable degree of moral obliquity." Other writers were more specific and referred to Greek or Armenian money lenders or to "sellers of strong waters to Muslims in most cities of Western Asia."
Well, maybe!

Zeiler: Israel could be on its way to becoming mafia-type regime

By Ari Shavit and Yuval Yoaz, Haaretz Correspondents

Israel could be on its way to resembling Sicily, retired judge Vardi Zeiler told Haaretz in an interview following Sunday's publication of a damning report on police and prosecution malfeasance by the inquiry committee he headed
