North Wales beaches?

Bahnhof Strasse

Met up with Hannah Courtoy a week next Tuesday
Any of you lovely people know of decent, dog friendly beaches in North Wales / Angelsey?

Will be in Snowdonia for the bank holiday, walking up the hill one day, the other, weather being 1/2 decent on a beach, so any recommendations would be very welcome.

Located on the outskirts of Porthmadog, the beach at Blackrock Sands stretches for miles and is a haven for beach games and resting. T. E Lawrence, of Lawrence of Arabia fame lived nearby and the 14th century poet Shelley is reputed to have regularly visited

i thought there was only one shelley and he was considerably later than the 1300s

It was a quote from a local website - and clearly wrong.

Was he not a "Romantic" traveller in the 18thC ? - enthused about bits of South Wales for their sylvan beauty before the ironmasters and coal companies destroyed them ?

Ah. Shame you can't take the dog to Llanddwyn. Maybe the beach is ok but the marsh bit isn't?

Aberffraw is pretty good. Get lost in the dunes on your way back from the beach.

If you want shops and surfing go to Rhosneigr. Lligwy is also a magnificent beach and has an ancient celtic settlement in some woods nearby, great to explore.

My personal favourite is Cable Bay because it's where I cycled to as a kid, and there's a spooky ancient monument there.

There's literally dozens more though :)

Sounds good and is dog friendly, thank you! Fingers crossed for decent weather...

There's a good coastal path there too, if you look out you will see a small island with a little building on in - it was used for shelter and food storage for shipwrecked sailors. Din Lligwy is the settlement nearby. Also, Mynydd Bodafon is nearby, get up there for a truly incredible view over Anglesey and towards Snowdonia.
