New Terrence Malick film - I'm excited!

Perusing the Beeb (looking for something to start a thread about as some posters might say ;)) I noticed that Mr. Colin Farrell has been admitted to rehab

In the course of this mildly diverting tale, my eye fell on the detail that he is apparently starring in a new Terrence Malick film, The New World, released in the US on Xmas day.

Now that indeed has me excited :) The Thin Red Line, as discussed in this very forum just a few days ago, has to be one of the finest films made, imvho (humble, not honest!).

Anyone have any more gen on this New World thang? I see someone has already managed a review on IMDB from "a guild screening"... what's that then?

ETA: More info from Nick Schager blog here

mm, a reviewer calling themselves amolad - clearly someone of good taste!

If it is out in a fortnight anyway, it's possible they could get to an advance screening.

Trailer looks okay!

Amolad? Is that about A Matter of Life and Death? I had to google that to get it.

...and grrrr... :mad: I can't get any of the trailers to play, dunno what my firewall is up to atm :mad:

malick was going to do the che guevara biopic but steven soderbergh took over
and i think he has some other stuff lined up, so this is probably his most prolific phase, especially considering two decades from days of heaven to the thin red line

Excellent - a fourth feature from the sublime but sadly so-amazingly-unprolific-he-makes-Kubrick-look-like-Corman Malick. :cool:

Quite! According to IMDB, " Malick finished the script in the late 1970s, but it lay dormant until 2004".

Jeeez. Nothing like having a good think about things first, is there? He'd last about 2 minutes on here :D

<pulse rises>

And this, apparently, is what the leading lady looks like...

...although yer woman on the left looks like a bit of a Dublin boot ;)

</pulse drops>

(Bit of technicolour there for ya, DF)

Husband saw it last week. Said it was very beautiful but incredibly boring. Lots of shots of slowly rippling water and meaningful pauses. Might be more fun if you have a smoke beforehand.

Sounds like Thin Red Line, then.
