Possibly the best solo album ever?

It's very difficult to beat. Possibly the best album ever, ever, ever no?

Not even Neil Young's best album (which is Zuma). Has some good songs on it, but is short on passion and long on sentimentality.

Best album ever is Myekeleni by Brenda Fassie, closely followed by Lupe Fiasco's Food And Liquor.

another no from me too.. love neil young but not the best album eva (tis good though and I listen to it a fair bit)

Zuma would be my call too. A fantastic album which also includes Young's greatest ever solo (on "Cortez the Killer").

Well, that was the style he was writing in, so...:)

I don't even bother to try and work out what my "best album ever" is, 'cos it changes several times a day!

Bob Dylan. Blood On The Tracks is far better, and i am a big Neil Young fan. Also Leonard Cohen Songs Of Love and Hate.

You haven't listened to it, have you? It's "country rock", nowt to do with hippies. :p
I overdosed on it. My brother went through a Neil Young phase, he had all his stuff on all the time, even Trans.

Townes Van Zandt is miles better than this chancer, and Dylan for that matter.

We had vicious fights. And he used to hide the punk records in the prog rock section sleeves and that, just to annoy me.

That's just plain wrong, getting someone to have to handle the cover of "Brain Salad Surgery" to get at their copy of "London Calling". :(

Tonight's The Night and After the Gold Rush are better, fo sho..

Dunno about 'best ever' though.

Well, I think I'm the first to even partially agree with you here, at least as far as NY's concerned (might put it joint first with Goldrush...). Made yourself hostage to pedantry and oneupmanship with that OP though...

Yes, but there's also Rust Never Sleeps which has this. And there's Harvest Moon if you are sitting off with your bird or just looking for mellow acoustic escapism.
