My son - lucky little bastard!

felixthecat

are we there yet?
Despite fucking up his GCSE English (I don't think he did any work for it all year:rolleyes: ) which was one of the course requirements, my son has managed to get himself accepted on the course he wanted at City of Bath College - National Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science! He still has to retake his english, but they loved him cos he is such a bloody good rugby player as well as an all round sportsman - and he ain't thick either (just lazy:rolleyes: ).

He'll do well at it cos its the subject he loves most (A* PE, double A science), and it'll give him as many UCAS points as 3 a-levels, should he decide to study further.

I'm dead chuffed :)

Good for him.
He can also get 20 UCAS points by getting a level 3 in Key Skills, 10 for Level 2.

that's brilliant felix

as a mum I'd feel very proud of that, they like HIM not just what's on paper - and that's fantastic :)

I don't know what the fuck that means !

Sorry....Key Skills in IT, Communications (English) and Application of Number (maths). Skills viewed as necessary in preparing people for work, training and study. Colleges offer the opportunity to achieve these at Level 2 (GCSE) or Level 3 (A level). This is done through stand alone weekly sessions written into a course timetable or through embedding the key skills criteria into the course program.

Completing a portfolio and passing an examination will get the student extra UCAS points, increasing their chances of getting onto desired University courses.

These awards are also recognised by many employers and training providers. Not to mention the fact that the student themselves actually benefit by developing the skills.:D
