Does anyone know were i can buy UK army MREs (24hr) cheaply? You can get Canadian and civilian ones here but can’t find any online which aren’t ridiculously expensive.
I remember a talk by a former Vulcan pilot (given under the wings of one of his former aircraft) where he described the rations given to crews for long/strategic missions as having a “concreting” ingredient, so they seldom had to deal with more than fluid on a mission. He said he preferred to take some soup.OTOH they are rammed with chemicals so they can last for years without refrigeration. And some say the American ones constipate you. But maybe this is just a case of grunts being dehyrated.
Millet plus rifles millet - maozhang.net
Long March was gruelling in more than one sense.
Long cultural connotations pre-Mao though of course, hence his leveraging/reference.I did not know Xiaomi means millet. This puts China’s huge tech firm Xiaomi in new light.
I’ll be honest I was waiting for the caviar to get a mentionI avoid anything marketed for camping as they’re always overpriced and usually insipid gunk.
If you like risotto get a pack of this or similar: My Risotto Perfetto Mushroom 175g
You just need to rehydrate it for 12 minutes. I highly recommend taking some extras to jazz it up...
-Dried porcini mushrooms. They weigh nothing add loads of flavour and the water you use to soak them in can be used for stock for the risotto.
-Parmesan. Get a small packet of grated stuff from the supermarket. It weights nothing and adds a lot to the meal.
-Truffle oil. Do not rough it while on an adventure, live it up. Get a small oil proof plastic bottle and decant the amount you need.
The above will give you the absolute nuts of a meal.
Just regular old camping/hiking. Not super light or anything. My gear is all 3 season stuff. I did a lot of West and North Wales when i was in the UK. Dartmoor and that neck of the woods quite a bit also. BC is fucking great if you're into the outdoors. What sort of camping are you doing?

Occasionally and i respect the landowners property (don’t cut fences and try to leave no trace). Less so in Canada though. If I’m going out alone i always let the local rangers know my route in case i get into difficulties. The backwoods can be unforgiving.Wild camping?
