Maximum Retail Price system- does anywhere else in the world have this apart from India* ?

bimble

floofy
*and also bangladesh.

It surprises me a lot that this is still a thing - every single packaged product (toothpaste biscuits whatever) has a MRP written on the packing, that price is set by the government.

You (shopkeeper) can sell below that price but are actually breaking the law if you charge more than it.
Find the whole thing really interesting.
Has obvious benefits but also some problems, like in remote places you're less likely to get the biscuits at all if transporting it to your shop is going to cost you so much that you cant make it work.

I miss the net book agreement and think bringing it back and extending it to biscuits sounds like a great idea.

Never seen anything on a national scale but Crass were pretty well known for the stickers on their records "Pay no more than..."
