Respectable married lady
Oh good folks of brizzle I'm heading up on Friday to meet up with a couple of university friends I've not seen for *gulp* 20 years! Looking for somewhere centralish (within a mile or so of Bristol temple meads) where we can hang, eat and drink our way through any social awkwardness. On a personal note I like a decent wine list and a good cup of coffee cos I'm a middle class ponce. Recommendations please. I thang ewe.

If I go to a pub for food I always go to the Wetherspoons :D but it may not be to everyone's taste. They sell food, coffee and wine which is pretty much all I want.

If you head for the Harbourside then you will be spoilt for choice.

The Watershed all the way. Proper middle class territory, good coffee, good wines, good food (currently, it has varied over the years) and they don't mind you going in there at 11am and sitting there nattering all day with only occasional purchases.

Volunteer Tavern - relaxed, friendly, good beer and food. Coffee not bad. Garden if the sun's out, proper pub if it's not.

Close to Temple Meads and just off the centre, moved from hidden gem to one of Bristol's best pubs.

secretsquirrel - I should point out that they serve food on chopping boards :(
