He's as high profile as you can get - that's a target in itself. And he wants to rape babies. Put that against how long he'll be in and you may get this.

That would probably make it even worse, yes. But finding out that your parents did this could be devastating.

Once a child is an adult, it's up to them. Before then, I can't imagine their mothers will be allowed to even maintain letterbox contact. Way too risky

Indeed! The whole thing will be about timing and the child's capacity to understand.

Lying is something that should be considered very carefully.

Absolutely not. But I cant face discussing this atm; I spent yesterday morning working on a case of a child whose disclosed some pretty horrible abuse and I'm finding it to too much to think about atm.

Most children who have been put up for forced adoption have been either abused or at risk of abuse.

Yes, fair enough. Keeping information to a minimum, though, until such a time as they ask for more. I would imagine the mothers won't be allowed any kind of contact.

i think a bit of 'paternalism' is probably in order here a bit; but i guess if, at a sufficiently old age, the children really wanted to know the truth, then they probably should be no barriers placed to that. do think though still there should be lots of prep for finding out something like that...

I'm not going to read it, but I feel incredibly sorry for the police, court and social work professionals who have had to be exposed to this stuff

Yep. And he was just on the edge of “denunciatory” indeterminate sentence. If he'd done it at first opp he'd have 1/3 off. So maybe out in 15.

No, it hasn't happened. If he had pleaded guilty at first opp (as one co-defendant did) he would have 1/3 off. He and the other one didn't so they get 10% off. It's arguable they should have none as the jury was sworn in.

Thank god the jury didn't have to be subkected to watching the evidence.

as others have pointed out, it wouldnt work. Even the judge has just said 'Despite him being placed in long term foster care...he
will eventually learn the truth of hischildhood and the abuse he was subjected to.'
