Looking for a field/campsite to run minifestival

Private Storm

Smell The Glove
Hello,

I'm looking for a camp site or field to hire (borrow??) to have a small, intimate mini festival over the August Bank Holiday. We did something in Richmond using a Scout field last year, but the Scouts have got a little nervous about doing such things as they are applying for planning permission for various projects and want to keep the neighbours sweet.

We've found somewhere in Sussex that looks ideal....but it's got a 11pm curfew for music. Anyone know of anywhere within a few hours of London that has space for about 100 people camping, maybe some basic facilities and would allow music until the early hours?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Probably has to be a field - we had quite a few families come last time and want people to feel they can bring kids without worrying too much. Think a beach or quarry might put some off....although I do like the sound of both!

i went to a very small festival (100 or so) people last year called 'Rumbellion', run by people id met at other festivals who gave doing their own little thing a go. was a field in Theydon Bois, so well out of the way but still on the Central Line. got no idea of how they worked the technicalities, but PM me if you want their contact details

Large car parks are better for mini festivals.

Just as a little update, we managed to book a private field on a campsite in Sussex. It has all the facilities we need, has plenty of space and is reasonably secluded. Only downsides are that there is no electricity (will have to hire a generator or two) plus (and this is the one I'm most put out by), there is a music curfew of 11pm. However, given that we'll have a good few families with kids joining us, this is possibly not such a bad thing. We'll just have to start earlier...

As i read through this thread I was thinking of a place near Heywards Heath whose name escapes me but I can get if anyone cares. Isolated at the end of a long & bumpy track, plenty of space, fire pits, portaloos, water not much else. And acoustic music only after 11. It's run by a nice bloke, the first time we went we just turned up but it was fully booked months in advance last time we tried to go there.

Maybe it's the same place, if so you'll make a lot of people unhappy by booking most or all of it for August bank holiday :(

Don't think it's the same place, but you never know.

Park Farm Campsite - Private Hire - Field in East Sussex near Kent

blimey, I've just looked at the prices- we didn't spend 13 quid a night each!

and I've just given them free publicity :(

Ha, just searched for a thread like this and found that there is one....started by me! :D

So, I'm on the search again. The farmer has gotten a little greedy and wants to move us to a worse location for a significant increase in price. Um, no thanks.

Does anyone know of campsites/fields/woods to hire/borrow where we can have around 100 people camp and play some music? We're pretty well behaved. Preferably in the south east and preferably not too close to civilisation. Thanks!

Went to a 3 day wedding/festy a few years ago next to the Angel Inn in Larling near Thetford in Norfolk that had live bands playing at, think that they have a few festies on the site each summer. Not sure if the pub run the site but they'd be able to let you know who does, not too far to walk to the nearest train station either if your punters ain't got a vehicle.

I've got a capri marquee (well my company has) I could pinch I reckon, and obviously soundsystems (although I don't think I could get those for nothing unfortunately).....
