I asked the clerks how they thought it was going to work when we all have to produce ID. Mayhem, they thought. Queues and complaints. There'd need to be an absolutely massive campaign for people to know to bring it along and even then, half of them wouldn't. It will take ages to process each one. 'I don't understand why we don't have electronic voting anyway' grumbled one of them 'Everything else is online these days.'
I didn't get on to the bigger questions of ID, obviously.
Your vote counts eh?Queues at my polling station.
I'm predicting a triple Green landslide in my ward based on that.
I've got three votes.Your vote counts eh?
House prices must be goodI've got three votes.
...but the queues looked very "Green" imo.
Have to show ID here (in Portugal ) to vote normally the Citizens Card (which has health, social security details and can be used to travel in the EU). I can vote in local elections but not national and have to show passport and residencia .this is a main tactic of the GOP here, pass laws requiring ID that some people may not have, and if they do then challenge the ones whose look you don't like.
House prices must be good
House prices must be good
dear dear
I'm physically tired and couldn't work up any enthusiasm regarding Bristol's mayoral referendum so didn't bother ...
I will be going glug glug glug myself tomorrow night if they do!No elections round my way which is slightly disappointing as I would've enjoyed a protest vote. Local elections are sometimes more entertaining than the big ones around here - St Ives is reasonably marginal between Con/LibDem so any vote of mine is essentially pointless in a general election. In the local elections you get a sense that your vote might actually count a little teeny bit. I would've enjoyed making Derek Thomas the Conservative guy squirm. I've had some partygate correspondence with him that has been utterly pathetic.
I hope Laura Kuennsberg is right. I worked as a Housing Officer in Westminster during the homes-for-votes scandal too oryx so would fucking LOVE to see the Tory flagship go glug glug glug.
