Local Elections May 5th 2022

you have to select the region on the bbc to see the result

cannot make the tory's look bad because of Nadine and her wank fantasies about bojo

The main headline is "Tories lose hundreds of seats..." so you can probably overdo the BBC bias tinfoil hat stuff

at the moment its been tories lose whilst the lib dems make great moves

the rest is how labour has not made enough gains to put johnson at risk

*shrugs

bbc tinfoil hat btw

laura kuenssberg :hmm:

I think the number depends whether you're contrasting with the number of councillors as it was yesterday, or comparing with the results that happened when these seats were last elected. Not all media calculate the gains and losses the same way.

Basically yeah, as far as I can tell. There is some scope locally for anti-LTN types to vote Tory I guess.

The local Orthodox Jews are not monolithic but I think a lot of them will vote en masse how community leaders suggest they do.

Not seen a breakdown but there isn't usually a particularly large turnout either.
Turnout was 49%

No surprise to see the right-wing Guardian minimising / playing down Tory losses....
Can't agree that the Guardian is right wing. It reflects the concerns and aspirations of the well-to-do elements of the liberal left (a poison to society). As does, to all intents and purposes and for all the well-off liberal lefties wring their hands about it, the contemporary Tory party,

Writing from afar the Libdem resurgence does seen to bode well for those who want the Tories out in the next election. Councillors are absolutely essential as activists on the ground to build the vote and Libdems taking votes from the Tories are very useful to causing them to lose a GE. Not a reason to support them - but worth bearing in mind.

Only if you think a government that essentially agrees with the Tories on almost every issue is worth the effort.
