Last Circle Line Party - MAY 31ST

Ah fair. I think it's probably going to be a bit crap. I suspect the police will be out in rather considerable numbers for this. Hurrah for good use of of public resources!

I'm far more interested in what the Space Hijackers are going to get up to rather than a load of Facebook types.

Time was when people would have said much the same about a load of Urban75 types.

(((((elitists)))))

Well I, for one, support the full use of all available powers to our brave policeman to break up this gathering of dribbling facebook zombies.

I am currently of the opinion that not a single one of the SH's rules will be kept to, and that this will do nothing more than be a load of pissed student morons acting like cunts, blocking up the tube, making a fuckload of mess and trouble for cleaners and staff who don't deserve it, and making Johnson's idiot rule look reasonable.

But I am Mr Grumpy today. Tomorrow I might be more reasonable

Apparently the RMT aren't happy

Prom PA:

Tube party branded 'irresponsible'

Union leaders have attacked plans for a final drinks party on London Underground before an alcohol ban takes effect on Sunday.
The Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said it was "irresponsible" to organise a party when alcohol played a part in many incidents on the Tube.
The ban, announced earlier this month by London Mayor Boris Johnson, applies to the Tube, London buses, Docklands Light Railway and tram services and stations across the capital.

I'd hazard a guess that the words "dangerous" and "anarchists" will crop up more than once in any coverage of it as well  :D

I expect what will happen is that they'll turn up to Liverpool St at the appointed time to be met by half the Met and trains not stopping. Then they'll drift off and give up. At a guess.

Hopefully some slack-jawed student organiser will get stitched up under terrorism laws and sent to guantanamo bay. that would make me laugh.

Bloody hell. i just looked at the page again and 65,000 have been invited. It's the biggest Skins party in the world by the looks of things.

Glad I'm not around Liverpool St tonight.

the organisers are unfortunately for themselves, quite easy to find on facebook, and by all accounts are calling lawyers etc as we speak.

I think the papers etc are gagging for this to go tits up, as are the police and the mayor as it will help strengthen their case for more powers and less parties.

I think their only option is to either stick to a single meeting point and hope that the police dissipate the thousands of people, or declare it open season on the trains for any train in any direction and then hope to spread the crowds across the network and risk the chance of death/destruction/chaos/gaol

You don't "need" to strengthen the case because it's more than overdue already IMO.

tell you what, it's gonna be fucking easy for the police to nick anyone after the event if they need to - half an hour flicking through the attending list on facebook should do it no probs.

looks like it's gonna be utter carnage, shame the space hijackers didn't get in on the act first & at least stand a chance of making some kind of order out of the chaos... though actually i guess the trick would be to do it properly on an entirely different line without using facebook to publicise it. Either that or just rock up to liverpool street in your tank for a laugh;)

But also:

The union has also criticised the "half-baked" alcohol ban saying it was introduced without any consultation and could aggravate travellers who are already a threat to tube workers.

Bob Crow, general secretary of the RMT, said: "We are concerned that London Underground does not intend to put on any extra staff on Saturday night as it will be our members who will be in the front line and at risk from aggressive drunken behaviour," he said.

"RMT will support any measure that will make our members' working lives safer and more pleasant, but the ban has been poorly thought through, is being implemented in haste and could put our members in greater danger."

Did anyone see the London Paper yesterday? Front page headline was about the Circle Line party
Plans for a massive Underground booze-up to mark the banning of alcohol on the Tube were today branded a “recipe for disaster”.

Then inside the paper the Party is mentioned in the Things to do column.

:D

Half-an-hour to flick through 100,000 photos? (or rather 60,000 photos and 40,000 question marks).

never said how many coppers it'd take to do it in half an hour...

may have been looking at the wrong facebook page, the one i was looking at only had about a thousand confirmed guests on it.

still I reckon the point stands - if it had kicked off the police would just have needed to spend a bit of time trawling through the invite list and photos from facebook to get most of them afterwards.
