Anyone else get a rent rise letter from Lambeth Council?

At this rate, will be paying the same rate as private rent

gone up, fam. by £4 a month. "this is the lowest increase in 10 years". Whatever. Those who are fine with it probably get benefit while the rest of us hard workers got to pay for it.

How much do you earn for all your 'hard work'? Would you like to swap places with those on benefits or maybe those on wages so low that they need help?

You dumb whining cunt.
You'd need at least 10 years of annual 15% increases to see you paying the same rate as private renters. Local authority rent on a one bedroom is £90-110-ish, private is £200-250.
Now fuck off.

tbh i think you'd be lucky to find a private one for £200-250 in london.

Hello thriller, guess who's got the energy again to reply to your nasty little piece of divisive shit about claimants vs hardworkers?

Got it in one, and you can't say a damn thing to me in fair or valid response, but go ahead and try, I fucking dare you. I'm a benefits claimant, and unemployed. The only money I recieve directly to me, in my name, is a benefit conditional on working at least 35 hours per week, at least 50 weeks of every year, and for less than the legal minimum wage (even for under 25s). It's called Carers Allowance.

I can and do sympathise with your rent increase, particularly when it's hard to see where the fuck Lambeth spends it. However, please leave the other stuff out, and try to be like the good chap who I hope is trying to get out of you or still make himself heard.

most council rents are increased in line with a formula that goes back years, the rate of inflation the previous September, plus 1.5% (I think) and maybe the flexibility to add another £2 on top - so £4 a week is not a massive increase - especially compared to private renters when they renew their contracts

are you in lambeth? has your rent increased? If not, please don't comment. This is a thread on lambeth rent increase.

Shut up you twit and NEVER tell me where I can or can't comment again.

Do you think this only happens in Lambeth? It happens every April under most/every council and housing associations too. My rent is going up, like it does every year. It doesn't make me want to be disparaging about people in receipt of benefits though. Funny that.

I think it came as a surprise to him, maybe he's special

my private landlord rent went up by more than that last year. it will probably do the same this year. it's not that i don't have any sympathy or owt, but i'd rather be in your position than mine.

Any idea what the percentage rise is in Lambeth ?

Here in Tower Hamlets it's 2.5% - slightly above the Government's guidance. Not complaining - just interested.
