I had thought there was a Kent photos thread as there are a few Kentish aficionados on here ( brogdale tonysingh off the top of my head), but then I remembered that it was a photo thread focused on the Isle of Sheppey alone.

So here’s a new thread for photos around Kent which in my view is a really fascinating and varied county. Images from Sheppey, Margate, Birchington, Ramsgate….(1/2)

Good to see some Kentish pride here
A place where tradition is strong and important distinctions are made between Men of Kent and Kentish Men

A ramble round Allhallows & Grain, on the Isle of Grain. A lovely herd of cattle called in for their late afternoon feed by the farmer. Weird pylons & monster concrete storage at Thamesport. Standing looking across to Sheerness across the River Medway, looking out to a crumbling nineteenth century fort (Grain Tower) turned property investment. Noisy hedges full of birds. Sitting at the edge of the Thames at Allhallows in a metal chair the farmer ( I think) kindly left there looking across to Southend, as peaceful as any remote beach in Scotland.

A great spot that I’d never visited. My father died this week. I will treasure an afternoon where I was able to get out the house & listen to nature and- occasionally- near silence only broken by an electric hum, reflecting on who had just passed.
