John Otway - an appreciation

"Rock and Roll's Greatest Failure: Otway the Movie" is on Netflix.
Stick with it. It just gets madder and madder. Fantastic.

If you've lost track of him - like I had - it's a revelation. Top bloke.

I remember seeing him at Glastonbury years ago. Playing 'you ain't seen nothing yet' whilst repeatedly throwing himself off a step ladder whilst Attila the Stockbroker translated it into German... brilliantly bonkers

His film, Rock and Roll's Greatest Failure: Otway the Movie, is on Netflix and well worth a watch... hilarious, tragic and inspiring 🙂

I missed this thread but was pretty sure there would be one in here.
Just back from such a great night seeing Otway and Barrett on their 50 years tour. I booked tickets on a whim, I’m not a die hard fan but have always rather liked him and saw him 10 or so years ago solo. I went with a friend who’d only heard of him and was initially a bit bemused by him and why such a good musician as Barratt would be playing with him, and what a shame that his songs, which are rather lovely, aren’t being sung by someone who can sing, but who ended up loving the whole experience. I can’t write a review for toffees but I came away feeling very uplifted and so glad I went.
