Israeli forces storm Gaza aid ship, and beat people on board. Fatalities reported.

I am not saying that this action is right or acceptable, but that it could very easily have been avoided.

I could very easily avoid being kettled by the police by not going on protests. Is that what I should do though or should I stand up for my right to protest in favour of things I believe to be right and just? Perhaps I should even go on a protest against the practice of kettling?

What right did they have to blockade and why should the ship have kowtowed to Israel's blockade? Besides it's being reported that it was in international waters.

This post is contradicted by the news reports here on Portuguese TV, and by the interview with one of the so-called humanitarian activists from Turkey.

Save your typing time, the anti-Semitic brigade will not listen. They are not interested in facts, only in having a pop at the Jews on every available occasion.

However, on BBC Breakfast news at about 6.45am, a very bizarre report about events kept referring to Israeli forces "trying to control" the people they were beating and killing. It took me a while to understand the report. It was an outrageous and sickening example of bias.

I have complained. http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/homepage/ If you saw it, I urge you to complain also.

In what other circumstances would storming and aid ship and beating and killing those on board be called "trying to control" them?

Wow. You post that, yet have the gall to accuse the BBC of bias?

The boats were heading into the exclusion zone, Israel and Egypt both offered safe harbour, where the goods could be inspected and forwarded to Gaza. The convoy refused. The Israelis boarded the convoy, and were shot at during the process. Six Israeli soldiers were injured, one critically.

That is an accurate synopsis of the latest news report, which bears little resemblance to your post. Why is that?

Incidentally, the interview with the Israeli spokesman was done in a robust manner, there was no pro-Israeli bias whatsoever, in fact, if there was bias it was towards the convoy people.

No it's no you vile man. It's an accurate synopsis of what the Israelis told the media. That's it.

Here's some Turkish reporting: http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n....k-kill-aid-flotilla-kill-activists-2010-05-31

Hurriyet said:
The Israeli navy attacked an aid flotilla carrying hundreds of activists including European members of Parliament early Monday morning, news agencies reported.

http://www.theturkeynews.net/story/641591

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a formal protest over the raid on the aid flotilla, and Ankara has reportedly summoned the Israeli ambassador.

And Abbas calls it a massacre: http://www.haaretz.com/news/diploma...tted-a-massacre-on-the-gaza-flotilla-1.293186

Haaretz said:
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas described as a "massacre" the killing of at least 10 activists on Gaza-bound aid ships boarded by Israeli military forces on Monday.

Oh dear....

Israel thinks it can get away with anything. This is what happens to Palestinians every day.

Sasaferrato I just find it sad that you think it it moral to defend this.

Anti-semitic - I don't think so. Israel is a fascist state. You should wake up and smell the roses.

The news here (Portugal) is saying that the flotilla had been warned not to approach Gaza, that they had been offered overland routes via Either Israel or Egypt. A 'leader' of the flotilla is saying, in an interview, that the intention was to 'break the blockade' and that 'humanitarian aid was not the objective (of the flotilla)'. She is also saying that she doesn't know if any shots were fired but doesn't know who attacked who. The video broadcast here shows only fighting with no clear indication of who did what or to whom. The Israelis are claiming that they were attacked.

That is exactly how BBC breakfast reported it this morning. Though actually it was not the BBC that said that, it was the Israeli representative interviewed.

Even the so called leader of the flotilla is saying that they had been warned for some days not to try to break the illegal blockade, and is saying that the intention was not humanitarian aid but to break the illegal blockade. In these circumstances the outcome was easily foreseeable, and it was foolhardy to ignore the repeated illegal warnings given, which she admitted they had received and chosen to ignore.

I am not saying that this illegal action is right or acceptable, but that it could very easily have been avoided.
Seems like an act of piracy to me.

If any soldiers were hurt during this, (which I doubt) fuck them.

And here we go, criticise Israel = anti-semitic. No argument, no right to criticise, no right to demand justice, simply anti-semitic.

I also heard the gentleman on the radio. Obviously the phrase ' live fire ' passed you by.

If (and I don't trust the Israeli propaganda machine at all) there was any shooting from the protesters side, it was using a weapon grabbed from the Israeli soldiers who attacked the boat in international waters.

Cause and effect.

Have a look at Dessatios post. That bears out the BBC report.

I must say that the rank anti-Semitism on here today disgusts me. It doesn't shock or surprise me, because there is previous form. A hell of a lot of you should be utterly ashamed of yourselves, if you are capable of shame.
