Is it OK to read Mein Kampf in public?

Stanley Edwards

1967 Maserati Mistral.

I'm sure it is, unless it is an edition with Swastikas printed on the edges of the pages and presented in a way which is obviously intended as some sort of pseudo Nazi memorabilia. I'm including a sneaky photo just to ad a little context. This guy seemed to be adorning his book as some sort of fashion accessory, or lifestyle emblem.

It wasn't just a book. The entire thing was a display of bullshit. OK, it may just be history, but to me it was far more objectionable than someone sharing the same cafe and watching porn publicly on their phone/laptop/mag. If my Portuguese was better, I would have said something.

Is this just me again? Would anyone else find it offensive? Dunno, guess another day, a different place, I would have just laughed. Not sure

I have a hardback copy, well it is in a box somewhere, never motivated myself enough to read it. And some who have tell me it isn't that great.

Not sure what this is called. When the book is closed all the pages appear black edged (like gilt edging) with stenciled out Swastikas in white. It isn't just a book. This is what annoyed me.

Is that his Joy Division sat behind him waiting for him to finish?

Why not ask him if it's real nazi memorabilia, lure him outside with tales of your 1928 edition signed by the fuhrer and then twat him

Really? Not that great? I'm starting to have second thoughts about Herr Hitler.
But I feel I should read it, at some point, I should read the rantings of the monster, if only to understand better how he and his henchmen came to be.

Why not read a book by an expert on Hitler instead?
They'll have read it and will save you the bother as well as providing greater academic insight.

There's nothing inherently wrong with owning a copy of Mein Kampf. Although if I had one I'd prefer my copy to be a plain volume, and I would be reluctant to read it in public even so.

That this person is reading a gussied-up version in public is very... hmmm. :hmm:

If I do decide to read it, and can find it among my many boxes of stuff, I certainly wouldn't read it in public, I don't read in public at all, not even newspapers!
