They don’t have a charge specifically for “being a fucking idiot and going somewhere you know is kicking off with a big fucking scary gun”.

They have different degrees of reckless endangerment and it’s all to do with how the laws are framed.

It’s legal stuff - it’s not common sense.

The charge seems to be based on the idea that he was recklessly endangering uninvolved people once he’d got into a situation where he had to defend himself. They decided the video evidence didn’t back this up.

Yeah, that's kind of what I think, even if you wanted to charge him to set an example that 'people who see themselves as movie heroes but have no clue what they're doing shouldn't go to "defend people from rioters" because having a gun may result in you shooting people'. I'm sure Rittenhouse was in no way pleased he killed those guys, he probably was scared. Which is why he shouldn't have fucking been there with a gun.
