IP telephony

Hello all,

I'm looking to get qualified with IP telephony in the near future. I've been working informally on an Avaya system for the past five years but would like to get kitted up knowledge wise. My plan being to go down the support route and then onto design and implementation.

I've done some research, but If anyone knows of any good courses/has any advice I would be grateful.

The most common certs are vendor specific. Microsoft's one is called Lync, you can self study but I think the majority do intensive courses.

I've set up a couple of asterisk systems (open source)
might be useful if you want to understand some of the guts, and not just a manufacturers frontend
