Sorry for the cynicism. I love the place as well, it actually feels like you're in India in there but I don't think loads of signatures will change anything.

I wish the pace would stay but money always wins these days. History means fuck all when there's some landlord or developed rubbing his hands. It sickens me.

It can do, but rarely. Just round the corner, Gaby's is still going I believe. This was threatened with closure many years ago by the billionaire landlord, but saved due to many campaigns to save it. Mind you, there were many high profile people that got involved.

I love this place, been going there for many years. I think editor is right, sadly. Money trumps everything these days. We radically need to rethink our priorities as a country. I am hopeful that we're on the cusp of a new awakening.....
