I need an iron

Modern irons (non-steam) don't have enough weight to press clothes properly.

Don't laugh, but one of our old irons (charity shop purchase, when they still sold 2nd hand electrics) is now used to press roofing canvas ...

I occasionally think I need to buy another iron , dutifully do the research and put candidates on a wish list on Amazon, and then think I haven't used one for over a year.

Why replace good shirts though? Mine are all 100% cotton because it is so comfortable to wear.
if i'm going to work i always mean to maintain a supply of ironed comfy shirts. but sometimes there just isn't one and at those times i realise i should have a few ones which don't need ironing: this is generally when i need to get out the house in ten minutes to avoid being late for work

One of the saddest days of my life was when my younger daughter left home. I was devastated. I used to pay her to iron my shirts for the week.

Forget piddling little domestic steam irons, you need a Hoffman Press

I used to operate one of these when I worked in an industrial laundry.

Much, MUCH faster than a domestic iron and the potential to cause life-changing injuries in the blink of an eye.

Ugh, ironing.

I think you should definitely get one with all the safety features. And possibly a heat-proof full body suit for when you are using it just in case.

Don't suggest one of those - dessiato will try to iron his trousers by lying down in it. :(

Those things do remind me of Prisoner Cell Block H though.

I have a steam iron, I just don't know, since I moved, where it is.

Some of my shirts are drip dry, some are not, I get by.
