I need an iron

dessiato

The last one I bought had shot of steam, and, of course, steam. It also had a function that would turn it off if not moved within a short time, and various other safety features. It was over 100£ when I bought it about 20 years ago.

I have a travel iron which has shot of steam, and steady steam. It works well enough for most of my needs but is a bit small.

I think a basic iron, a larger version of the travel iron, will be enough. These are very cheap, some as little as 14€. That seems very cheap. At the other extreme I saw one at almost 200€

Are there any other features I ought to consider, apart from the very basic?

14 Euro seems a bit pricey for the cheap end tbh. I think ours was about a fiver from Wilko. I use it as little as possible but it does do the job when required.

I think I bought one about 20 years ago. I think it only comes out once a year at best. I ironed on a patch to my daughter's school uniform this year, can't remember the last time anyone used it before that.

I reckon all you need to do is to drape the items needing ironing over a toaster...oh.

I spent about 40 quid on mine - Bosch I think - over ten years ago. It was a pretty good spec when I bought it - chucks out loads of steam which is good for ironing really creased cotton, although downside is you have to fill the reservoir fairly often. This is especially the case when ironing bedding.

Not had a need to use it for a couple of years I think - will have to check there's no water in the reservoir as it's probably gone green and manky by now.

I think it's worth spending a bit of money on a decent iron - the cheaper ones don't work so well IME. Working with a good iron turns the task into a pleasure.
I agree - a decent iron makes it much easier to iron stuff and worth it in the long run.

Just dont. You will only burn yourself x

I was watching Alan Carr doing The Price is Right the other Saturday (I know, I know, lockdown innit) and there was this iron that was something like £400. How can an iron cost £400???
