Huge fire at Notre Dame cathedral, Paris

My daughter works in the lumber field.
Wood prices are soaring.

Really glad the French have the wood to work on the cathedral.

Oak is ungodly expensive if you can find it. I priced oak flooring a while back a $4 per linear foot. Meanwhile, my neighbors pulled every bit of oak woodwork out of their 1915 Arts and Crafts bungalow and sent it to the dump. :(

<edited to add>
It's almost as bad as the moron who painted over the oak woodwork in my house before I bought it.

The Glasgow school of art is very sad. The old dame is far from finished. We could still see sky though the roof, still lots of craftspeople there, cranes, scaffolding etc. they did have a very temporary viewing platform just out the secure area.
