Was just browsing estate agents websites out of curiosity and came across this:

Am interesting location indeed.

Surprised it got planning - I thought Highgate cemetery was listed or is that just one section of it?

I know where that house is. It's not in the cemetery, it's on a road that runs along the edge of the cemetery....that's just the back of the house as seen from the cemetery.

In September 2002 Charles and Jemima bought their dream plot here in Highgate, North London. Charles is a City banker and they always intended Jemima would become Project Manager for what would be their family home. Unfortunately Jemima became pregnant three weeks into the build, Charles and his friends collapsed the entire economy, the cheap Eastern European labour disappeared with the plumbing and now the couple are running out of funds . . . right now. Will their lives lay in ruin of will a bank bung them another £50,000? Find out after the break . . .

I read a thing in one of the supplements about this a while ago. It cost an absolute bomb, and when the owner was building it he found out that one of his relatives was buried just feet away.:hmm:

What a bloody cold house that is. Modern houses like that do absolutely nothing for me. Thats how I know me and MrV would split up if we won the lottery... I hate that sort of house, he loves it.

And what a waste building such a modern building in a location which aches to have a home that is old and cobwebby and high ceilinged and moulded coveinged...

I know someone who bought an ugly modern house built on a site with a glorious long established garden....the garden won.

I walk past this most days - it's one of those 'ugly or beautiful?' things - I like it, it's very striking, and I'm used to looking at the cemetery out of my office window. I'd love to look inside.

I used to live in Highgate and I loved going into the cemetries for a wander around. They have an amazing atmosphere. I'd be very happy to have a view of it.

One way glass works on the principle of the darker side being obscured. It wouldn't work if you wanted to have the lights on at night.

Quite!

Is it nicer to live in a beautiful little cottage overlooking an ugly modern house or live in the ugly modern house overlooking a beautiful little cottage?

Probably the latter. :)

Have you ever lived in one?
