Help: Flight ticketing question

Storm Fox

Trying the find the next noun to verb
The Storm Vixen has a flight from Columbo to Heathrow via Dubai, she has booked it as two separate flights but would like to get the ticket through ticketed all the way from Columbo to LHR, so she doesn't need to get her bags at DXB. Emirates are saying just explain the situation at check-in, but she is still really worried about it as if that is wrong it's a bit late to rebook the second flight.

Does anyone know if this is the correct thing to do?

Thanks :)

Is there any reason she can’t retrieve baggage and recheck at Dubai? Or does she just not want to?

The layover time is about 1h:20 minutes, so there is not a lot of time to get through immigration, bag collection, bag drop and security etc. Otherwise, it would be OK.

Presume it is the same airline (Emirates) on both legs? Speak to the desk, and then check that the bags have the correct labelling on them with an LHR tag so they should end up in the final destination.

If Emirates are saying to explain at the desk, I'm sure they are used to this and have a policy in place. There must be hundreds of thousands of people who have changed at Dubai in similar circumstances.
