help choosing a phone

daughter is 12 and wants a new phone for christmas - don't quite know what is wrong with the one she has, it's pink and makes calls, what more does she want?

oh yes, I know what she wants!!!

touch screen or one of those sliding things that shows a querty keypad
be able to play music and watch vids (so an intergral i-pod nano type thing)
take pixs (even though she has a great camera)
surf the net
must have blue tooth ???
needs to be in a bright colour
pay as you go

no more than £120 (ish)

I have been looking at the samsung tacco, and also there was something called sidekick or something like that

can anyone help as it needs to be funky and do everything

no - she is not having an i-phone - too expensive and only available on contract, she also doesn't need anything that gets emails in either as she doesn't sent any, she spends all her free time on face book messaging her friends she has just spent all day at school with - what's all that about?

yes she is 12, got her first phone last year, she was the last one to get one in her class - it's what they all want, don't ask me why? she doesn't actually use it for phone calls!
 
I hear LGs are generally better than they ought to be.

Or at least the camera feature one I looked at was.

The iPhone is not only available on contract, you can get it on PAYG as well. Although having said that it would be an expensive phone to give a 12-year-old.

I've seen them selling cheap touch screen phones on Ideal World; whether they're any good or not I dunno.
 
My friend's got her son an imitation iphone from China.

As I don't really know what an iphone is or what it does, I don't know how many features this imitation one has compared to the real thing.
 
Christ, don't get the Tocco, it's a pile of wank.

For a kiddo I'd say get the Nokia 5800, it's touch screen, allsorts of colours, £160 on play.com (a bit over budget, but...) comes with a years worth of free downloadable music :)

samsung tacco or samsung tacco lite the Lite doesn't have WiFi

The Jet looks intersting - Android OS and an AMOLED screen. Would definitely like to compare to the HTC Hero myself, but not sure that they're geared up for the yoofs...

Tocco is still shit, especially in Lite version :)

OH have a nokia 5800 and it's fab but not funky enough
I have just got my work iphone and I don't like it much, I prefer the 5800

so, still none the wiser on what to get but I know not what to get which is a step closer

Give her your work phone with an 02 payg sim in it then
