If you want good short-term tactical advice then you’re looking in the wrong place because I am notoriously terrible at predicting short-term movements. But when I buy, I intend to hold what I buy for the next 20 years at least, so my attitude is just that I’ll buy the long-term thing now because my short-term tactical errors will balance out anyway. If you say had some money in an isa and cashed out the vanguard plan before the crash. Would you go for back into a similar tracker or cash isa for a year? That's my thinking at the moment since it looks sketchy. Then reevaluate after.
For what it’s worth, my expectation is that current inflationary price increases will be reflected in next year’s company earnings, which will act as an inflationary pressure on those companies’ share prices. In the long run, that’s why I think only equities properly hedge against inflation, and is why I am currently buying equities, not cash or bonds. That’s just one frequently-wrong person’s view, though, not gospel truth
