Those teams were bankrolled. Maidstone live within our means. He had the biggest break even budget. Still an amazing achievement to win the league, but we were full time and he didn’t do it on the cheap. The phrases to look out for are “work ethic” and “follow instructions”. Think he’ll do well in time, but at Maidstone he inherited a squad that had been built for some time. Hope you stay up so we can have a happy reunion and give him the thanks he deserves.Hak on Stones axe

Some interesting details in there, including that he won the NL South with Maidstone last season "on a relatively low budget compared to five or six other teams".
“I had half the budget of Dorking, less than half the budget of Ebbsfleet, half the budget of Havant.
“This year, we were up against teams with double our budget. How can we possibly compete?
Unsurprisingly these male managers often spend a lot of their time comparing sizes… of budgets that is. However one of the things that impresses me is not how big his budget is but how well he uses it. A lot of talk in this forum recently has been about the poor quality of players that came into the squad in recent seasons despite (rather than because of) our playing budget. If Hakan can get the players here to first keep us up this season then utilise the budget he’s given in the summer to make us the competitive side we should be then he’s doing his job.

I believe that Maidstone were the first team outside the Premiership & Football League to declare a seven figure turnover and have consistently produced profits with player budget around 30% of turnover i believe. That other clubs are also producing £1m+ turnovers shows how the game is changing at our level.Maidstone live within our means.
DHFC can’t be far off £1m…?I believe that Maidstone were the first team outside the Premiership & Football League to declare a seven figure turnover and have consistently produced profits with player budget around 30% of turnover i believe. I'm fairly sure we've already reached that figure.DHFC can’t be far off £1m…?
Just on a back of the envelope 2500 average for 25 games each spending £16. That’s bang on £1m, and doesn’t include advertising or other revenue.
This doesn't account for concessions and season ticket holdersDHFC can’t be far off £1m…?

Yeah I was very roughly assuming an average entry fee of 8 and then doubling that for in-ground spend. It’s very very estimate-y.This doesn't account for concessions and season ticket holders
When I looked after the turnstiles, we worked out an average entry per head of between £5 & £6 which included all concessions and season tickets but not such things as free entries given to various groups as part of promoting the club or the copious guest list that operated. Hopefully the latter is something the club is now getting a hold on.Yeah I was very roughly assuming an average entry fee of 8 and then doubling that for in-ground spend. It’s very very estimate-y.
Well done though if you’ve been paying 16 to get in. Very generous of you.
Think Francis Urquhart had the perfect phrase there.I'm fairly sure we've already reached that figure.
Not a problem for me as I was just trying to give my view as a long time 30+ years Dulwich fan who is retired, watches the football, buys a programme and a couple of 50/50's, so I reckon my spend is about £9. I think there are a great number who spend the same or less. There are also a lot more who don't watch the football but spends lots on beer. All I can do is apologies.Yeah I was very roughly assuming an average entry fee of 8 and then doubling that for in-ground spend. It’s very very estimate-y.
