Any current recommendations? Not a big meal, just a light bite, maybe with a few beers - of a Saturday afternoon/evening.

The Moroccan café on the Brixton Road end of Brixton Station Rd is very good for a snack or meal. They do wonderful lentil/bean soups, with chunks of bread, chicken and frite baguettes, cous cous and more. Excellent value, and good 'home' cooking.

The Portugese on the same stretch also does some tasty food, and its right in the middle of the Saturday street markets.

Just walk through the market. I particularly recommend cafe Provençal opposite happy dumplings. Tapas. And there's a booze shop across the from it too. It's BYO in there.
