I really kind of feel bad and half good for my coked up self shouting at someone in the stone circle pissing in the hedge

I shouted so teacher-like he stopped mid flow, apologised and ran off

It was fucking hilarious, a definite highlight of the festie for me :D

tbh, at both free parties and festivals etc, I find there's an awful lot of 'alternative' types who are in fact selfish wankers with no regard for other people or the environment generally.

You'd like to believe otherwise but it's true sadly.

I second that motion.

Did anybody happen to see Africa Express? On paper that looks as if it had the potential to inject a bit of genuine spontaneity...

Only a week late reporting back on this but I was there & it was without a doubt one of the best Glastonbury nights ever. I had it pencilled in as a possible but didn't have any idea who was playing until I heard Amadou & Mariam drifting across the breeze while I was at my tent in Dragon Field getting changed & cleaned up after an 8 hour shift & an unsuccesful hike up to the farm to retrieve my lost mobile. In fact if it hadn't been for the unusual atmospherics that apparantly caused the sound on the Pyramid Stage to be turned down so drastically for the Killers then I probably wouldn't have heard them at all.

I bombed (OK slithered) over to the Park to catch the last 3 numbers of A&M's set & they were immediately replaced by a bit of raucous riffing & Billy Bragg wanders onto the stage. He's then joined by Baaba Maal & it all went on from there in a glorious succession of talent that I don't believe even Peter Gabriel & WOMAD could bring together on a single evening. Toumani Diabate, Ba Cissoko Tinariwen & K'Naan were all among the other big names from Africa and were interspersed & collaberated with by The Specials, Ben Harper, Magic Numbers, Fat Boy Slim & Damon Albarn who put the whole thing together.

It all ended at about 1:30am with an amazing rendition of Rock The Casbah. 6 hours had just completely flown by & I probably spent most of them wearing an enormous cheesy grin because I knew that I was one of only a few hudred people who had completely lucked into an absolutely phenominal experience while those at the Pyramid were moaning about the shit sound for the Killers. :D

:D :D :D

I think I'd've gladly paid £150 and put up with the mud just for that alone, tbh. :D

Stop Press!

The Evil That is Tesco are doing something nice for once. They are selling lovely Burrow Hill Zoider.

I'm sampling one of the four bottles I bought today (hic!) :D

Ah, OK, I hadn't been really sure when he'd been scheduled to be honest ...

I could have got you pints from backstage, J-area (JazzWorld -- it was Bath Gem  ). But I'll probably get a pass again next year :)

Touch premature and presumptuous, maybe, William? ;)

All I know about glasto 2008 is that there's a very good chance I won't be there :)

I will be teh sad if you don't :(

Nope, we're pretty much set on trying some new festies/other things next year.

This years glasto was my best ever, but the things that made it what it was were the people we spent time with, not really the festival itself if that makes any sense.

Time to try some new stuff, if they turn out to be shite we'll be back in 2009 :)

I had such a wonderful Glasto in 2005, I managed to see a few bands and then dance till after dawn at LV. I relectantly went back this year....kinda because of the size of the place, the money to pay for it and the time off work. I enjoyed the festival as how can you not but for a while its def my last. This year I did not see as nearly as many bands as I woulda liked...partly due to bad decisions on my part and the mud !! Im just about to buy a ticket for end of the road festival so i can my fix...but I guess time will tell....:)

Anyone got new music as a result of going? Apparently glasto appearances do wonders for the acts.

Today I bought "The Hours" album, cos they rocked a soggy Friday morning in Leftfield.

And I do mean bought. Went into one of those old school "record shops" and bought a funny shiny disc. The computer seems to know what it is.

I have Glade Reading and Knockengorroch (Harith) left this year at the minute.

Contemplating the Autumn Knockengorooch (the Spring one was great), but leave may be an issue for me.

I have five others (on the trot) from WOMAD (very late July) onwards .... no Reading for me though!

Failed to buy the 3 Daft Monkeys album (they didn't have any at the time  ) but will rectify this in later festivals ... :)

Are you not coming to Endorse It and/or Beautiful Days then, moonsi??

No...it was a hard decision about Endorse It but I have other commitments to time and money and currently work 2 out of 4 weekends...:( Going to WOMAD though.
