Getting a refund to a credit card that has zero balance?

I bought an electronic device on my credit card about 3 weeks ago, but I've decided I don't really want it now so I'm going to return it under the companies 30 day return policy. During that time though I paid the full balance off my credit card, so would I still be able to get a refund to that card? Or would I need to ask them to pay the refund to my bank account?

Refunds are normally repaid to the card from which the payment was made, so the merchant gets back the original fees charged by the card company for the transaction.

I have a positive balance on one of my credit cards, because of a refund, it's not a problem.

I had something like this happen not long ago. If you have a zero balance and have a payment refunded your'll have a positive balance that will be taken off a future use.

I got refunded a fiver to my credit card so just brought something that cost £5 to even it out.

Amex is a charge card not credit but the idea is the same, mine has a limit of around £50k, but if I need to pay for something that costs more than that ( I occasionally pay for a private jet for a customer ) then I pay some on to the card so it works, can’t see why a credit card would be any different.

No one is impressed by your huge credit limit, the first class flights and lounges.

Not trying to impress, it’s a work card not a personal one, my work is travel, hence the flights. But do carry on.
