George Lucas to make Indiana Jones 5

It could work if they find something interesting enough to film about. A magical crystal skull fails when you the bar is set around the Ark of the covenant and Holy Grail, unfortunately. Good luck to them.

I just...don't understand.

He doesn't need the money. I mean, he really doesn't need the money, so why carry on?

Unless he is actually suffering from some kind of early-onset dementia, he can't be under the illusion that his last few films have justified their existence artistically - they have just been licenses to print fanboy money.

If he therefore feels the urge to really create and direct and make movies, then why not do something new, something challenging and different, rather than continuing to flog his stable full of mouldering horse corpses?

I mean, he was an Ok director at one point so why not try to get back to that rather than turning out second rate video games masquerading as films?

I will go and see it at the cinema. Thought that the 4th one was stretching it too far but have enjoyed Indiana Jones, and even though a 5th may just be too stupid I want to see. Partly I just want to see the hat but curious to know what Lucas will do to make a 70 year old Harrison Ford worth watching in an action/adventure film.

You are an enabler!

Wonder if had not River Phoenix snuffed it there would have been a fourth 10 years ago? He was really good in Last Crusade. Now we've got Shia :hmm:

I'd laugh if he made a brilliant film which relied totally on the previous episode to set up the pretence, thus making it a necessary and, as part of a duology, a classic piece of 'thought it was shit but now its actually really good' film making.....

He wont though will he....

Indeed, the only thing more stupid than the fact they're making a fifth film is that I'll most likely go and watch it at the cinema... :(

I'd prefer monkey brains. I've heard of a good place in... well, somewhere exotic and foreign, the specific location isn't really important.

e2a: I went to see Crystal Skull at the Odeon Leicester Sq. on the day of release too...
