Freelancers free/cheap accounts package

I need one. I don’t need much beyond tracking income v expenses, the ability to raise and track invoices. Not yet anyway. As things progress I will need the ability to expand into a basic profit and loss etc accounts system

I‘ve looked online and got a lot of ideas, but I think personal experience and recommendations are best.

I haven't started using it yet, but Homebank looks to do the job for me. Totally free, open source and straightforward.
