Freeholder/landlord making my life a misery

AnnO'Neemus

Is so vanilla
Where can I go for help/advocacy support? The housing association that owns my flat are literally making me mental.

I'm a leaseholder, so Shelter won't help as they help tenants.

I have a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome and have longstanding mental health problems, which are exacerbated very badly by problems with the housing being fuckwits. Autistic support services all seem to be aimed at children/parents of autistic children.

I really need an advocate/support worker, but am struggling to find a suitable service. I've called care worker agencies, but they only offer practical/personal care type support, no advocacy work.

I've just spent a week in a mental health crisis unit and am due to go home tomorrow, but the problem hasn't gone away.

Help?!?

Where are you based? If you're in London, it might be worth contacting London Renters' Union, or Living Rent if you're in Scotland - again, both are probably skewed toward tenants, but maybe they'd be able to help?

What are they doing specifically? Hard to advise without details. And where do you live, may be an advocacy service locally that people know of, understand if you want to keep that private.

are the independent but government funded specialists on leasehold (in england at least - understand it's completely different in scotland) - they do telephone / e-mail advice but don't take on case-work / advocacy

citizens advice may be able to assist (although it's a bit specialised) and / or may be able to refer you to another local organisation

or Home - Greater Manchester Law Centre – Greater Manchester Law Centre

depending on how big the housing association is, there may be some sort of tenants / leaseholders' group of some sort. i'm a council leaseholder and there used to be a leaseholders' group that met a couple of times a year, although i've not heard from them recently

Falling through the cracks is so shit.
