Fortress 2 and Gary's Mod

My kid is totally addicted to these games. I mean he's a fanatic. I can't get him off them
I don't even have any idea what Gary's mod is about, something to do with a fishing rod, rope, gun, building boats thing.
Is there anyone out there who plays them?

I play them, they're awesome. Team Fortress 2 is an fps with a class system, Gary's mod is open source so can be practically any game that it is possible to make with the HL2 engine

Garys mod is like an ingame construction kit where you can run around building and playing with parts out of different games.

Team Fortress 2 is a cartoony knock off of Team Fortress that was gradually upgraded until it was half decent.
