Film identification help

Me76

Not very good lurker
I remember spending a New Year's Eve in doors about 14 years ago and watching a film that was really good but I have no idea what it was.

It was American, set on NYE with lots of little stories that all sort of inter linked. It was a bit girly if I remember rightly. And I think it had some relatively famous people in it although I cannot remember who for the life of me.

I do realise this is not much to go on.

If Urban succeeds at this, next is a book identification of a book I read at 13!

The film rings a bell too but i have no idea sorry

Tell me about the book? I might have better luck with that :)

The book was probably about 600ish pages long and was about generations of an Irish family going back to the 16th or 17th century. Kind of talked about the history of the IRA with different generations being pulled in and things. I think there was a bit of start crossed lovers type of stuff as well. It all finished in the70's or 80s with bombings in London and one of the lads from a family that you had followed through the generations becoming a martyr - although it may have been a girl actually.

200 Cigarettes?

Just looked that up on IMDB and it sort of sounds similar but is way too late. The film was definitely from before that as I would have been watching it on TV before 1997.

I seem to remember one of the vignettes being about a woman who just spent her time in her living room watching tele. I remember relating..:(

Eek. Sorry.

So the film was probably about 94 - 05 in the cinema? :hmm:

Would have been in the cinema before 97.

Not Night on Earth is it? Don't think that's set at New Year.

It isn't that but that looks good

Four Rooms?
- nope, my one wasn't a comedy

Party Party?
- nope, it was definitely American

- not this one either

Any of these ring a bell?

Long Time Since from Miss Minnie's list is ringing vague bells but there isn't that much information on IMDB to go on really. I am going to add it to my LoveFilm list and see.

Thanks to everyone though!

I presume there was a proposal of marriage at midnight after the couple had broken up just days before, possibly due to a misunderstanding?

Have you not got one person who was in it?
