Film ID please?

Main guy or one of, once a year drives full speed down a road in an American town/city, where all the blocks cross over so hence lots of lights/junctions.
He decided that once a year he will do this and not stop at the lights and if he lives he lives and if he dies he dies.

It's a strong memory of the story line but no idea of the film....?

Ok got it to work.
Kinda similar but not the screen shots that I remember.
Im sure I would have remembered BDT too.
It's a dirtier town, and older open topped car and a (possibly) younger bloke who is a lot more desperate with no woman in the car.

I know it does exsist!

Possibly 90's or early 2000's but I am not totally sure
I have no idea of actors.
In my minds eye the actor in the car is faceless.

He is a big character in the film and it's not a sci-fi or anything like that.
A drama and possibly (very possibly) action.

No. Just read the summery on imdb and I think no.

It's not the main story that he does this driving through the lights thing, just a character point that comes up once or twice and is (from what I remember) is quite impressive on a psychological level.
That also maybe wrong and it's something like Gone In 60 Seconds and I am just remembering badly

Don't think so. That's where he makes the cab driver drive him round everywhere. 1) the cab isn't convertible and 2) I may be getting it confused with another film as well
