Favourite London brunch spots?

Cloo

Banana for scale
My birthday in a few weeks falls on a Sunday, so thinking of just going for brunch with family, anyone have anywhere they'd recommend for a mostly civilised birthday brunch?

Caravan? Either Kings Cross or Exmouth Market. Depends what you mean by “mostly”, of course. Good variety of choices for the ravenous and for people who can’t really think about proper food until late afternoon.

Funnily enough was just looking at Coal Drops Yard. Caravan might be a good one for appeal to all family members.

Spymaster - was just walking past Dishoom in West End on Monday and wondering why it always has massive queues. Is it really good or just one of those places out of towners think is essential to visit for some reason? Could be both, I suppose!

FWIW Cloo Mrs Numbers and I love Dishoom, great food imo/e.

We recently had lunch in Bali Bali on Shaftesbury Ave, a small family run Indonesian place and very reasonable, they do a wonderful traditional Rijsttafel (Rice table), which is basically an Indonesian tapas more of less.

There's certainly an element of marketing and it's got quite a rep overseas, especially it seems, with Americans. Half the times I've been has been showing visitors around. Don't hold that against them though.

We've been to Kings X quite a few times and Covent Garden once or twice. The food isn't the best Indian grub you'll ever have, so don't go expecting that, or you'll be disappointed. It is excellent though, and they do what they do very well. The breakfast/brunch stuff is ace (double bacon and egg naan ftw) and the restaurants are great spaces and always lively. Decent cocktails too but avoid the Bloody Mary, because it's a pre-mix that's insanely salty.

Roll-out of there and have a few drinks in Coal Drops, or the pubs in Bloomsbury.

This is next on our list.

I looked it up after you mentioned the Indonesian rice table on a weekend thread.
