aah good stuff, those tedious internationals out of the way, we can get back to hte important stuff. ans all of mine came though nicely uninjured, so its just one wee transfer (bye bye hibbert, you will be great...once you get a bloody game) and we are ready to kick ass this weekend.....
 
my drunken monkies are challenging for the lead there... :)

whats all this about it splitting into two divisions? reckon i should be able to stay up there, got a good team going now - tho i only just realised i still had paul okon on my books who was apparently sold a while back.. DOH!

shit, like an idiot, i was just in there changing a few players, gettin rid of kirkland coz hes injured etc, when i accidentally clicked on 'remove team'...

just checked back through the early pages of the thread, and it seems we never really came to any conclusion about when it should happen. indeed the date that came closest was after gameweek 4!

so perhaps we should make a decision, got to give it at least two (game)weeks notice I think, and at least one promotion/relegation opportunity (two were suggested earlier - christmas & march).

So - split after Gameweek 8?

Any one up for a cup competition as well, keep those in dire league positions interested?
 
omg! change of league name...n for a moment i thought i'd been chucked in the lower division, but no....glad to see there's none of this 'premiership' nonsense here!

in a cup - first round division 2 & bottom 4 clubs from 1 (assuming 22/24 split) will mean there will be 32 teams available for second round. ganmes could be played every 4 or 5 weeks, to give plenty of time for any replays that might be necessary. i think i thought of some clever way where the teams from last year that 'qualified for europe' didn't have to play till round 3, but i'm buggerred if i can work that one out again now....
 
ChrisFilterFC seem to have recovered from last seasons shocking effort, and have risen to 4th place.. no surprise really, look who the best supporters are ;)

it'll never last!
 
I've had some shocking performances to date.

Dropping Owen before his recent spurt wasn't the best of decisions but he was playing shit...

Still, looks like 80 points can easily be made in a single good week :)

mmm, my worst week since the first this one, dropping 8 places!....and bloody devlin gets transferred & berger buggers his bollox!.....but still only 20 points off the lead.....
 
I'm not sure how this split into Div1 and 2 is going to work??
Would there not be a possibility that someone in Div2 could have way more points than someone in Div1?? someone who is (say) 18th in Div1 could have a lower total than a team who's 4th in Div2 yet be in a higher position by virtue of the fact that they were doing well in Sept. Is that fair? or have I just got the wrong idea of how it would work?
I mention it particularly in view of the fact that any betting going on among teams in the league would be buggered.
 
Blimey this is getting more complicated than a rugby league :p

I think the idea of 2 leagues was to keep those near the bottom interested. However, the style of this year's league seems to make positions a lot closer and more variable than last year. Have to see if it settles down a bit...

People in at the bottom of Div 1 will have lower points than the top of Div 2 after a while. It will sort itself out slightly at each promo/relegation point and pro/rel teams will jump in at a table position, but there's nothing that can be done about that.

The reason for the split was to give mid table teams a chance to win something. In your example the person in Div 2 has a chance coming top of the table at the end of the season or being promoted, at which point they will win a prize. If there was no split, the chances are they would win nothing.

Exceptionally good teams in Div 2 will have no problems shooting up into Div 1 and placing highly, and it will work the other way round as well.
 
Well i manged to pick up a whopping great 7 points yesterday and have dropped from top to 11th, and my reamaining players are facing each other today so can only score points off each other...gonna take me months to claw my way back up now.

o gawd, another dire week....24 points....126,123 out of 149000 teams...ooooh dear...may have to jump into the transfer market again if i'm to have a hope of staying in division one...

edit.....ooooh, well, had to be done i suppose....down to 20th now...but have a hope of pipck,ing up some points this weekend now i've dumped most of my injured/just not playing people

surely you should make van nistelrooy or henry your captain?

giggs doesnt score too many, and i thought the captain's points get doubled, goals being the most important part of the the players score...

If you check out the points distribution it doesn't always work out that way, and Ruud got a -1 this week!

Anyway, Giggs has been playing alongside Ruud and midfield players get more points per goal scored.

I had Henry as captain but he wasn't scoring as many points as Giggs...
