F1 2018

Both Toro Rosso's in the top ten  Honda managed to up their game for the home GP

Danny Ric screaming in his helmet after another engine problem, out in Q2

Nightmare Q3 for Ferrari, they timed it right to get out before the rain but Vettel over-cooked it at spoon, another Ferrari mistake, Vettel staring from 9th

Well, so far it's looking like a good weekend for all things Hammy.

Both he and Botty put in an absolute stormer on slicks while the rain was between the clouds and the asphalt. There's a pretty good chance it would still have been a Mercedes 1 and 2 even if Kimi and Vettel hadn't had their excursions.

Good result for Max, but woes again for Danny Ric.

Any word on tomorrow's weather? I'm thinking slicks, wets and pirouettes.

Chance of safety cars? Medium to high.

I agree, I don't think Ferrari would have been on the same level as Mercedes, what I still can't understand is why Ferrari sent their cars out on intermediates when all the other cars in the pits left on slicks, what were they thinking? Its all well and good watching a computer screen and trying to make a decision, but all the people on the pit-wall had to do was look over their shoulder and they'd have seen that no one else thought the rain was coming at that moment. While the team is to blame for the tyre choice Vettel over driving the car was his mistake.

It will be interesting to see Max's tactics for the race, he can sit back and wait for a opening to move up but I think he will say "fuck it, I have nothing to loose and Mercedes has everything to loose, so I'll just force them to let me by as they'll be worried about contact" I'm not sure the Red Bull has the power for that, but I'm sure that is what Max will think.

As for the weather it is forecast to be much better on Sunday with little chance of rain, but your guess is as good as mine and Ferrari's ;)

125 on table so it will more or less finish it

unless the Merc engine suddenly starts exploding at the next 3 races

God forbid! :) I think the Mercedes cars are the most beautiful racing cars I've ever seen. I wouldn't mind having 1% of the development cost. :)

really you were alive to see the last 50 years of F1 or more

and one of the new car with the halo is one of the most beautiful ever

:hmm:

Certainly, for its time, yes, it was leading edge. Cars weren't topping 200mph then though, the reason that the long straight in the Le mans 24 now has a chicane, was Sauber Mercedes cars hitting 240mph at the end of the straight. Four miles a minute.

With modern cars, drivers walk away from some very high speed crashes, back then they would likely have died.

The Lotus is almost like hotrod cars now. :)

ahh, no worries we mixing up aesthetics with engineering supremacy

saying that the 2016 merc wins that

:)

Ferrari appear to be making a big strategy mistake leaving Vettel out, looking at the car tracker if they called him in he would come out in clear air instead of fighting with slow back markers

Its had to believe that half a dozen races ago Ferrari had the faster car and Vettel was leading the drivers championship looking at things today, if Lewis wins its game over for the season unless Mercedes have a load of DNFs

Interesting mind set from Max thinking Kimi should have waited for him to get back on the track :D I"m sure Max would have waited for Kimi if things had been reversed

All the millions the team spend on aero seems to be a waste of money, Max's car was damaged yet was able to keep up with the undamaged Mercedes and Vettel with loads of damages was able to get fastest lap #IcouldsaveF1teamsmillions :)
