Extreme meat eating...

Johnny Vodka

The Abominable Scotsman
My best mate is into this - eats lots and lots of meat, and fat, and is totally against carbs of any kind, and pretty much avoids fruit and veg. Granted, he trains hard, seems to perform well against others in his gym, and is very pleased with his body. He sent me this link to 'prove' this lifestyle choice. Meat is Life | High Steaks What do y'all think about this?

My initial thoughts are that it seems like the meat equivalent of a conspiracy loon website and even if eating meat all the time was good for you, it wouldn't be good for the enviroment...

Would anyone else defend a diet which consists of as much meat? Are we being conned by vegetarians and enviromentalists into seeing numerous and decent portions of meat as bad?

yeah you'd not include that one in the shared toilet roll bill given that he'll be on a 10 wiper every visit and deplete the stocks unfairly. Buy your own shitrag, you wrong un.

Whatever causes these things, a plant-based diet low in refined carbs and sugars and fats seems to take care of all of them.
Learning only recently about the insane popularity of low carb diets has left me gobsmacked - makes me relieved that I at least made one good decision in my life 35 years ago.
And my own parents are not ageing well - and they think it's "normal" to be on masses of meds in old age.

Luckily I much prefer veggies and starch.

In googling about diets I'm amazed at the crap out there.
People low-carbing just to lose a couple of kilos of glycogen and the associated water and thinking they've instantly "lost weight."

Gawd 'elp us. Even my careless vegan diet was healthier (hardly ever took B12 supplements)

As Mc Dougall especially is fond of pointing out. It isn't rocket science - just look at the parts of the world where diet-related disesase is almost unknown and copy what they do.
Instead we have idiots apeing the very worst excesses of the American diet.

I'm not sure that site proves any health benefits with pics like these. :D

My doctor sometimes sends out packets on diet and lifestyles information. He recently sent me one on recommending a modified Atkins-style diet. I laughed and put it into the recycle bin. :D

From watching these videos recently, the way I interpret it is that doctors probably either think it isn't their place, or that people simply won't listen.
But are happy to prescribe statins and anti-hypertensives, insulin and the like.

Atkins is like a diet without actually dieting ...

you do realize you just described the low carb diet as what you consider to be the ideal diet in this post and derided it at the same time?
I find this pretty funny especially when I and others went to great lengths to explain it and how it works to you on several occasions. the only thing that's different about your ideal diet and the typical low carb diet is that one typically eats more fat, however, that does not contribute to more fat being absorbed by the body since the body responds by using fat as fuel more than carbohydrates while one a low carb diet so the net fat storage is not increased and in general decreases (carbs are very easily stored as fat)

that's because they've been learning that the low-fat, high carb diet they recommended for years may have actually led to a lot of the health problems we've been facing over the past several decades, and that plant and protein based diets are beneficial not only in terms of losing weight but also regulating blood sugar, etc.
my doctor was the one was asked me about my diet (I had been on a low calorie diet for months and not seeing results) and he recommended a lot more protein.

as far as extreme meat eating....no.

however, this silly thing of equating low carb or plant/protein based diets with eating tons of unhealthy processed meats is pretty tiresome and ignorant. please just don't :( :D
