EXETER people, help me please - child-friendly pubs

Thora

Differently Ethical
Looking for a child-friendly pub with a beer garden/play area (or some kind of similar venue that entertains children and serves food) for a family meet-up. Somewhere in the vicinity of Exeter but could be up to 20-30 minutes away.

Any suggestions please?

The only other pub I really remember in Exeter was a cider bar where I learned that old men who drank scrumpy developed bulbous red noses and talked shit all the time. So not all that suitable for kids.

Apart from perhaps the pub I've enjoyed most of all but that is no more :( but opened by a mate who did lockins until the early hours where we played pool all night  . I was fine because I was working freelance but the rest of them mainly worked on building sites and had to get up at 6 am. A few lost their jobs I think :( Eta: ah that was in Dorchester so ignore that.

Standard pub grub, loads of parking, big garden and play area.

Nice food, loads of parking, decent garden, small play area

I appreciate your posts even though they've been entirely useless

Oh and Greendale farm is ace. Nice cafe, chickens roaming free outside, old tractor to climb on, Alpacas, Pigs etc

Also

"If you’re planning to visit the farm shop, why not bring the children and make a day of it? When you’ve finished shopping, recharge your batteries in our café then head out on our family farm trail. Set in 15 acres of farmland, the trail follows a level path that’s just right for pushchairs and little legs; you can potter over to feed the friendly chickens and ducks, visit Oscar the curious Ostrich and maybe take our vintage tractors for an imaginary ‘test drive"

While we're talking about the Double Locks, and we WERE talking about Double Locks ...

I've noted this before but every year they have a mini type festie and when I moved to Exeter first I didn't know anyone and went, and there were a couple of young uns who were tripping and he was running round chasing her and trying to freak her out. As he ran past me I said "Nah don't do that mate", and he stopped. She decided she liked me and introduced me to all their mates.

/purveyor of fine useless posts since 2001
