'Terminal City': Extraordinary Photos of Vancouver 1972-1982 - Flashbak

Great stuff. I was born in Vancouver in 1969, but my family moved away when I was a young kid. Went back to live for a couple of years in the early 1990s, and it was much different from the city shown in these pictures. And now, like so many other North American cities, it's well advanced in its gentrification. I still think it's a fabulous city, though, and if a job opportunity came up I'd be very happy to move there.

It's worth noting that quite a few of these pics seem to be from the Downtown East Side, around Hastings Street, which has been, for a long time, the slightly seedier side of town. I actually like the area a lot, and I used to hang out there a bit when I lived in Vancouver in 1992-94, but it should not be mistaken for the whole of Vancouver.
