Eurotunnel day trip question

Yo

I am off again in a couple of weeks exploring - but meeting for a night out in Amsterdam on the way, so am looking at the tunnel to save time, as I am driving calais-dam same day

Can I get a day return or some combination of fixed date return and simply not bother coming back ? planning to get the ferry back anyway. Lots of guff on the net about them charging for a no show on the return leg but I am hesitant to rely in internetz friend of friend tales - anyone got any experience of this .

it about £80+ cheaper to book a day return than a single on the day i am travelling BTW

PS there is no fucking room in the car. ish

Bah, should I wing it or go all legit ?

the timing will be tough as its 4 hours to the dam easy, without Antwerp jams and I need to ensure max sesh capability is built in .

the boat will strip me of 2 hours all in and that is two hours less I can spend on waxy cheese and clogs upon arrival.

hmmmmm

Although I have not done so for about five years, I have booked numerous day returns on Eurotunnel since it opened, many for a car + 5 loaded to the gills with baggage leaving Folkestone at 5pm, so no real chance of returning the same day. The warning that not returning will result in your card being charged the balance between the day-return fare and the full one-way fare come up, but have not once been applied. (pretty sure they can't just charge your card the extra anyway). Perhaps look to return by boat though, so you're not outright taking the piss, (although I have done two one-way day trips for someone once and he had no issues).

We've done this before and never had a problem... Should be fine as long as you are planning to ditch the return leg... rather than the way out.

hmmm. if use a travel agent to book and cash.....

Don't look at me!

srsly, when you book have a look at the page that does the cc authorisation, you are only authorising them to take X£'s, you have not authorised them to take an undisclosed amount at some future date should for some reason you be unable to comply with an arbitrary rule that they have laid down, (god I miss bungle, he'd be raging right now, raging!).
