Has anyone ever attempted to put types of evidence into some kind of hierarchy? I know it's done in scientific research, but what about everything else?
It seems like it should be possible to some degree or another.
At the top you could have a priori stuff and mathematical proofs, a little further down you could have information from randomized double blind control studies, then near the bottom you would have things you heard from a guy down the pub and 'well, I just kind of feel that way'.
It would make solving problems much easier if you could settle arguments by consulting the evidence chart.
